For years, Toon Pei earned a living as a lorry driver, travelling across Malaysia. In 2020, a devastating road accident changed his life forever. At the age of 50, he was left paralysed from the waist down, replacing the open road with a wheelchair and a hospital bed.
Determined to continue his recovery, Toon Pei left his hometown and now lives in a nursing home in Klang, Selangor. While kind friends from his church have helped cover his basic nursing home expenses, he still requires ongoing acupuncture and physiotherapy, placing a heavy financial burden on his recovery.
His wish is simple: a commode wheelchair that will make daily caregiving safer and allow him to use the toilet with greater dignity. He also hopes to move to a nursing home with a more suitable environment that supports both his rehabilitation and emotional well-being.
