For 20 years, Kah Poh’s life stood still. After being convicted in a drug-related case, he spent two decades behind bars. By the time he was released, everyday tasks had become unfamiliar: he had to reapply for his identity card, learn how to use a smartphone, and slowly readjust to daily life.
He hopes to maintain stable employment, obtain a motorcycle or car driving licence, and repair the ancestral home where he and his father continue to live. During rainy days, water leaks through the roof.
For Kah Poh, rebuilding life is about finding dignity through honest work, caring for the only family he has left, and restoring the future he is determined to build.
